Dreamy Bedroom's

I'm currently in the process of gathering inspiration and ideas for my next project, restyling my bedroom.  While we live in a rented property, it's still possible to make the place feel your own by adding furniture, art & bedding. The bedroom is a place of relaxing and unwinding at the end of the day so it's important to have it as clutter free as possible. It's also probably the most personal room in a house, the one where you can express your sense of style the most. I'm loving white & grey colour schedules with pops of blush pink to add some interest. Loving mod simplicity styles to keep it bright and functional with touches of vintage for loveliness!

Here are some my favourite bedroom interiors idea's...

An inspiration colour & texture board I created for the pops of blush pink.

I love the simplicity of this room & the ladder and vintage suitcases to add a feature of interest.

How lush is this mod pink chair?! Need one now...

Sheep skin rug, beautiful bedding & foliage on piled books, so dreamy!

If I could paint my walls, this would be exactly how I would do it, three quarters full.. image from sfgirlbybay

White curtains allow a dreamy light into the room, making it look like a larger space. Also love the rug!

A feature lamp is a must, love this vintage industrial style!

Tea for Two Tablescaping

Tea party's are one of my favourite ways to spend these warm autumn afternoons in Melbourne.

Today's shots feature some recent fun I had with tablescaping. Jars with blooms, bunting, an old timber fence, tea cups & pink lemonade are all the ingredients for a lovely vintage tea party!

These sweets and biscuit tins I picked up from a little gift store in Lancefield, they add an element of height to the table and can be used as a cake or cupcake stand for a rustic look.

Pink lemonade - sweet to the eye & the tastebuds!

Fresh flowers are a must for any tea party, styling in different jars create a vintage rustic look. These beauties are courtesy of raven and the rose and her left overs!

Beautiful tea cups never go out of style. The ones featured here I received as a very special wedding    gift. Always keep an eye out in any op shop, sometimes you can come across some real beautiful crockery & at a smidgen of the price.

Hope you enjoyed my tea party, bottoms up!

Wedding blooms

I love weddings! So this Saturday was a real treat being the apprentice florist for my sister and her  floral business 'Raven and the Rose'. We set up at a beautiful little blue stone cottage at the Lavender farm in Daylesford, Victoria. The blooms were so delightful, including some fresh organic pretties from the little flower farm. The wedding was a romantic vintage style which is right up my alley.

Take a look at some of my shots from the set up.... enjoy x

P.s how delicious does that cake look!!

I'm wearing yellow

On Thursday March 13 I'm wearing yellow for world wide endometriosis awareness day.

Sadly, there is little known about endometriosis & it’s a disease that effects millions of women around the world.

A common response to endometriosis (even from some doctors and health professionals) is that it’s ‘women’s business’ or ‘just cramps’ and the disease often goes unmentioned, undiagnosed  and misunderstood. It is for this reason endometriosis awareness is vital so that women can feel free to share their stories and struggles which will hopefully raise enough awareness to lead to a cure one day.

For many women the pain of ‘endo’ is ever present,  some women are not able to work or go to school, they are home bound, debilitated by pain.

For me in short, endometriosis has meant two surgeries in the last two years, it’s meant trips to the e.d, countless specialist appointments, medical bills, too many missed days of work, days spent in bed, stress and of course chronic pain. I have a constant niggling reminder that the pain is almost always there, just waiting to flare up. I'm ever so thankful that I'm one of the lucky ones with a supportive partner that is also super at hot water bottle duties!

I'm wearing yellow...

A book I recently read ' stop endometriosis and pelvic pain' by Andrew S Cook,  states that the pain is often described as a stabbing and tugging sensation repeatedly in the lower abdomen and groin area. Sometimes if your lucky it be can eased with strong narcotics.

Some facts about endometriosis;
  • Endometriosis is a disease that effects 10% of women world wide
  • It causes chronic pain
  • It is a leading cause of infertility
  • There is no cure

So please wear yellow for endometriosis this Thursday the 13th, share your story, raise awareness and hopefully one day there will be a cure!

Reasons why you SHOULD road trip around New Zealand

Lake Tekapo

Today I'm sharing you with you a few pictures from our recent whirlwind road trip around the south island of New Zealand.

Point number 1 - Everyone will tell you New Zealand is breath taking &that's with good reason! Drive about an hour and half out of Christchurch and BAM your surrounded by natural beauty. Photo opportunities are plentiful, not that they really do it any justice.

Hello Philly!!

Point 2 - Getting a van is a good idea. This way you can explore at your own leisure, you call the shots on when to stay when to leave and where to go next. I would recommend bringing your own sheets though, I'm quite sure we had bed bugs the first night so I had to sleep in as many layers of clothing I could find.

Phil & our super rad van 'free willy'

Point 3 -Visit wineries, lots and as many as you can, even if you don't enjoy wine you will enjoy the views, and the characters that run them. They also tend to offer lots of insider tips of where to go.

A beautiful spot for an afternoon wine

Point 4 - The smaller towns are worth stopping in. We found lots of hidden gems on our daily morning (and afternoon) tea stops! From vintage craft stores to the best blueberry crumble I've ever tasted.. we never regretted one stop.

Rapt we made it to the top -Queenstown hike

Point 5 - It's easy! Flying to New Zealand was a breeze, just over 3 hours on the plane and inexpensive flights leaves you wondering why on earth you haven't been there before.

If this hasn't won you over, hopefully the pretty pictures will.. now go on book those flights and enjoy!
